The vitality of female American rock is amazing to see and even more so to hear. Born in 1995, Lucy Dacus is part of a new movement that’s floored us these last few years. Originally from Virginia before moving to Philadelphia in 2021, this young woman came to the public’s attention with her first solo album No Burden (2016), oscillating between folk, power pop and indie rock. Signed to the Matador label, her solo adventures continued with two follow-up albums (notably her most recent, Home Video, which came out last summer). Since then, this singer-songwriter and musician has also distinguished herself as a member of Boygenius, a prodigious trio she co-founded in 2018 with her friends and fellow Americans Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.
