Vote for Mr. Giscard! This future president of quirky French chanson has very diverse influences: Justice (his heroes), Serge Gainsbourg, Michel Legrand, and let’s not forget a healthy dose of rap and bossa nova. Born in French Guiana where he lived until he was a teenager, this young man went by the name Mr. Giscard (an allusion the former French president Valéry Giscard d’Estaing whose given name he shares). Today he lives in a flat in the Parisian suburbs where he writes music, alone with his computer and father’s guitar. Radiant, nonchalant, raw and melancholic, his music crams in each and every one of his emotions. His debut album, Sensibilité, (due for release by RCA on 10 June) is an opportunity to discover his tracks serenely before enjoying his live performance, or should we say presidential party?
