In 1967, David Bowie sang "One boy breaks a rule / Silly Boy Blue" on his eponymous album.
More than 50 years later, this song title has become the pseudonym for Ana Benabdelkarim from Nantes. A music journalist in her spare time, she’s also a musician of many years’ standing, notably she’s one half of the duo Pégase. On her first EP, But You Will, released last autumn, you can hear her sensitivity, modesty and sincerity entwined with a velvety dream-pop. After a number of stints in different bands, Ana has taken the bold move of following her own inspirations, writing alone surrounded by her computer and keyboards and stepping out as a solo artist. Androgynous and ready to break all the rules, just like Bowie.
