CMAT, short for Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, is an Irish musician whose winning songs are radiant compositions rooted in both pop and country music. Three albums now make up her body of work, which continues to grow at a rapid pace. The second and third, Crazymad, For Me (2023) and Euro-Country (2025), each earned her a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize, the UK’s top award for album of the year. Thankfully, this Dublin born multi-instrumentalist doesn’t hold back, and her songs are all the more mischievous for it, filled with hope in a world whose flaws she laughingly points out.
