A singer, performer and accomplished dancer, Sam Quealy refuses to compartmentalise the arts that inspire her. This multidisciplinary Australian has been based in Paris for years, where she has nurtured her passions for cabaret and music in close collaboration with the band La Femme. In fact, Marlon Magnée, Sam’s partner and one of La Femme’s two founders, has just produced her new album. Titled Jawbreaker and recorded between their home studio and the legendary Studio Ferber, the record marks a shift towards flamboyant rock and the most unbridled pop, following the much-vaunted Blonde Venus (2023), which established its author as a techno pop revelation worth watching. From her years in cabaret this free spirit has lost none of her aura, one that is sure to leave no audience indifferent.
