There’s it-girls, those media darlings praised more for their looks than their minds. And then there’s Eat-Girls – a mixed-gender trio from Lyon who hold radicalism and intensity in the highest regard. Judging by their debut album Area Silenzio, released late last year, they count Siouxsie and the Banshees, Anika, Lizzy Mercier Descloux and Kim Gordon among their adopted foremothers. Blending post-punk, no wave and apocalyptic synths with a lo-fi, unhinged energy, the three musicians twist their machines and instruments into shape by instinct. That raw, intuitive spirit carries through to their live shows, unreal experiences where their music is fully unleashed.
