FLOATING POINTS live show at Rock en Seine
A close friend of Caribou and Four Tet, British artist Floating Points shares more than a few traits with his kindred spirits, like a deep dive into sophisticated electronic music that’s never alienating, always meticulously crafted and warmly inviting. Originally from Manchester, Samuel Shepherd (his real name) earned a PhD in neuroscience while nurturing a lifelong passion for music. These days, his research is of a different kind – as a producer, DJ, composer and label founder exploring the outer edges of electronic sound. Many first discovered him through Promises, his acclaimed 2021 collaboration with jazz legend Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he’s kept the momentum going with a soundtrack for the San Francisco Ballet and, most recently, his third studio album, the phenomenal Cascade.
