Raised in the Chicago suburbs, she’s a longtime friend and collaborator of Chance The Rapper. As a teenager, she developed a deep love for old-school blues and slam poetry. Her passion for words likely stems from the countless hours spent in the bookstore her mother ran – she counts Toni Morrison among her heroes, alongside Nina Simone and Missy Elliott.
