SLOW FICTION live show at Rock en Seine
You only have to listen for a few seconds to understand why producer Dan Carey, founder of the Speedy Wunderground label, recently took this New York five-piece under his wing. Julia, Joe, Paul, Ryan and Akiva play a stately kind of rock, rich in explosive riffs but always delivered with elegance. Slow Fiction is bound to resonate with fans of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol or The Walkmen. Blending garage, indie rock and shoegaze, the band wears its literary leanings on its sleeve – particularly a love for the poetry of Anne Waldman, Ted Berrigan and the New York School, that vibrant multidisciplinary movement of the 1950s and 60s. Their cathartic, electric tracks truly come alive on stage.
