Suuns have been in constant motion since they burst onto the scene in the early 2010s with their intense art-rock shot through with flashes of krautrock and a deep love of electronic music. The Montreal-based band has continually pushed the boundaries of their sound, both together and through side projects. Like frontman and guitarist Ben Shemie’s many collaborations with French DJ and producer Chloé. While that kind of outside work can sometimes spell the end for a band, that’s happily not the case here. The trio – rounded out by Joseph Yarmush and Liam O’Neill – released their stunning seventh album, The Breaks, in September 2024. It’s the perfect measure of a group still thriving at the peak of their sonic experimentation.
