His mixtape In a World We Don’t Belong (Pt. 1), released in November, marked his first breakthrough. It was through these five tracks that audiences discovered Sekou’s understated soul, his deep baritone voice, sounding far older than his 22 years, as well as his leanings towards R&B, pop and gospel. Even before that, more attentive listeners had already spotted his talent on the EP Out of Mind, released three years ago. Next is his return in 2026 with a new mixtape, announced as the second part of last autumn’s release. This young British artist of Ivorian descent has already caught the attention of John Legend, Sam Smith and Arlo Parks, and it’s easy to see why when you hear his richly textured songs, which he performs on stage with both conviction and sensitivity. And this is just the beginning.
