Club avant Seine
For many years now, Rock en Seine has been committed to supporting emerging French and international talent from the independent scene. The Club Avant Seine is a unique and constantly evolving system that puts emerging groups and their professional entourage at the heart of the project. Since 2005, Rock en Seine has been playing its role as a discoverer, seeking out the big names of tomorrow, and to this end a jury of professionals has been set up to select the artists.
This year, AI LINH DO CAO (Grand Music Management), QUENTIN BRUNEAUD (AEG France), MATHILDE MEUNIER (Super Mon Amour !), NATHALIE ROY (Sacem), PASCAL STIRN (independant), FRANCK VERGEADE (Les Inrocks) et SILLY BOY BLUE (artist – Avant Seine 2019) worked with us for several months in order to choose the selection of the 2023 Club Avant Seine artists :
We’ll be welcoming Franco-British pop artist BLUMI, club duo BRACCO (FoRTE selection) and post-punk band DITTER. French neo-soul act LYNN and EN ATTENDANT ANA will be on hand, as will director, actress and musician MARGUERITE THIAM, singer NKA, the latest revelation at the Inrocks Super Club, and THÉA. And get ready to dance to the sounds of SOCIAL DANCE: three Marseilles-based fans of no-holds-barred pop, THE BIG IDEA, SPOINK (selected for Give Me Five!) and UZI FREYJA (selected for the Prix Chorus des Hauts-de-Seine).

TRAINING PROGRAMME
In 2023 Rock en Seine wanted to strengthen the training programme offered to Club Avant Seine artists by offering them three full days of training (two in June and one in September).
Based on a series of interviews with artists who have benefited from the Club Avant Seine, this new programme enables new themes to be tackled and complements the other courses available to certain artists as part of other support schemes.
The first day of training focused on the artist’s body and health, with contributions from a variety of speakers (nutritionist, stage coach, etc.). The second day focused on professional structuring (contracts and income for artists) and networking. After a masterclass given by a 2021 Club Avant Seine artist, November Ultra, accompanied by her manager, the day ended with a time for informal meetings and exchanges between the artists, the programming teams and the partners of the curriculum and the festival.
Finally, a third and final day will be offered in partnership with the Cité internationale de la langue française, based at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts. A programme focusing on media relations, interviewing and speaking on stage will be offered there in September 2023 as part of the very first residency at this new cultural facility. Club Avant Seine artists will also give a concert on Friday 15th during the Cité’s first weekend open to the public.
The Cité Internationale de la Langue Française will soon be opening its doors in the heart of the fully restored Château de Villers-Cotterêts in the Aisne department.
A cultural centre entirely dedicated to the French language and French-speaking cultures, the Cité aims to share a living language with as many people as possible, reinvented by those who practise it around the world.
With its 1,200m² visitor trail, rich cultural programme, café, bookshop, shared spaces for community activities and artists’ studios, the Cité is a multi-disciplinary, local and international place to live, open to all, in the heart of a unique green setting, the Retz forest.

INTERNATIONAL FOCUS
Rock en Seine wants to make the most of its links with a number of major international players, particularly in the UK market, to benefit the young artists it supports. As a result, 3 artists from the 2023 Club Avant Seine selection will have the opportunity to perform at the following festivals during summer 2023:
