Even though her debut album What a Devastating Turn of Events was just released at the beginning of May, Rachel Chinouriri has already proven herself many times in recent years, with the mini album Four° In Winter in 2021, two equally admirable EPs (Mama’s Boy in 2019, Better Off Without in 2022), and a flurry of singles that have all contributed to her evolution. A singer and songwriter in the vein of Lily Allen, Daughter, and Kate Nash, this 25-year-old Englishwoman grew up in a family originally from Zimbabwe. Her music contains electro-pop accents reminiscent of Phoenix and a genuine desire to express herself freely in the first person, without hiding behind characters, for example on her single Never Need Me, featuring a video in which she appears alongside the actress Florence Pugh.
