Destroy boys? They don’t mean it, that’s just a bit of banter. In fact, gender is irrelevant for Destroy Boys, you just have to look at their members past and present. Fronted by non-binary Alexia Roditis (piercing vocals and penetrating guitar) who founded the project in 2015 with friend Violet Mayugba (also on guitar) in Sacramento. This young group specialises in a style that has historically characterised their home state of California: punk, especially hardcore and garage. In just a few years they’ve released three albums, gained a solid live reputation and the recognition of some true legends (including Green Day’s Joe Armstrong and Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna).
