We’ve missed James Murphy’s often imitated but never equalled electro-rock group. Co-founder of the DFA Records indie label, it’s not easy to follow his career, marked by multiple early retirement announcements and just as many comebacks – a hesitant adieu that he knowingly mocks by calling one of their live albums The Long Goodbye. One thing is sure, from Losing My Edge to All My Friends, from Daft Punk Is Playing at My House to Drunk Girls, this American fiftysomething has written some of the greatest songs of the 21st century. He continues to be a reference for several generations of artist and has gladly collaborated with many of them (for example Gorillaz, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pulp, and more recently, Idles). This latest reunion will be an unmissable event for anyone who’s never seen this legend perform live.
