It’s not often that artists successfully reinvent themselves with every album, magnifying their voice with each passing decade, never extinguishing the flame that’s inspired them since their beginnings. Polly Jean Harvey is one of these exceptional beings who seems incapable of ever disappointing, both in the studio and on stage. She proved herself to be the queen of hearts last October with her two Paris Olympia shows where she played her most recent album, the magnificent I Inside the Old Year Dying as well as other songs from her repertoire, all in a minimalist décor that redirected our focus towards only her, a brilliant singer-songwriter, capable of releasing an emotional whirlwind with just one riff, with just one phrase. Special mention goes to her current band, notably the ever-present John Parish and Jean-Marc Butty.
