As an actress, you might have seen her in Season 3 of the Lupin series. On the music side, perhaps you have heard her with the hip-hop collective Soul’Art, as a guest on the Italian producer Clap! Clap!’s hit Moving On or on stage with Chassol. Martha Da’ro has now emerged as a solo artist, as evidenced by her superb debut album, Philophobia, released last November. Born in Mons and now based in Brussels, this Belgian singer of Angolan origin expresses her soul and R&B inclinations in her music. Her sophisticated, almost cinematic arrangements borrow as much from electronic music as from symphonic strings. The cherry on the cake, singer Lisa Kaindé-Diaz (one half of Ibeyi) lends her divine voice to two tracks.
