The Belgian city of Ghent is sending an incredible delegation from its constantly bubbling music scene to this year’s Rock en Seine festival. In addition to the Dewaele brothers (Soulwax, 2manydjs) and Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, the male-female Belgian-Japanese duo Aili will also be there to prove that the Flemish city remains an essential hub for the most avant-garde sounds in electro-pop. Following a series of astonishing singles, the duo comprising Aili Maruyama and Orson Wouters released their debut album, Nandakke?, earlier this year. The group has drawn from a variety of electronic music sources to mix everything in their unique way, with swaying rhythms and Japanese lyrics that contribute to the impression that Aili comes from another world.
