Neo-soul, jazz, R&B? A pinch of each gives us an idea of what BINA. is cooking up in her music. After a first EP, Humble Abode, recorded alone in her bedroom in 2019, this singer and guitarist from South London has opened up to the rest of the world. She says she makes music to feel better, to heal those who listen to it. Her goal is easily achieved on the tracks she has unveiled in recent months, particularly the aptly named Dopamine, a subtle and intoxicating single, and the elegant Blackjack, which is accompanied by a black and white video where a dancer’s sculptural body expresses everything that flows through her. In the credits of this video, a line can be read as a statement of intent: “To feel everything. Fully and honestly.”
