Venna was just 21 years old when he won a Grammy for embellishing a Burna Boy album with his saxophone. His favourite instrument has been with him since he was 12 years old, back when he was a student in south London and still called Malik Venner. In 2021, his first solo EP, Venology, gave him confidence in his vision: mixing soothing hip-hop and limber jazz on airy tracks. He continued this process on Equinox, a brilliant EP released last year. Openly influenced by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, but also J Dilla and Kendrick Lamar, this virtuoso musician and producer has a string of collaborations (like Beyoncé, Wizkid, AJ Tracey, 6lack, Snoh Aalegra). Relaxation remains the keynote of his concerts, both on stage and in the crowd.
