CVC stands for Church Village Collective, a name that refers to the group’s headquarters: a hilly village north of Cardiff. Their feet might be firmly planted in Wales but their gaze is turned towards Sixties California, this charming troupe was created in 2019 by six musician friends who wasted no time: a debut EP in 2022, a first album in 2023 (called Get Real), and a rich compilation last February, which includes singles, acoustic versions, and covers (of Wings and the Super Furry Animals, two bands to whom they owe a lot). One can easily be swept up by CVC’s psych-pop languor, their vintage sound, their electric flashes, and the contagious craziness that’s already on their records, which bodes well for a fervent live performance.
