From Gossip and St. Vincent to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Big Joanie – several generations lovingly  preserve Sleater-Kinney’s heritage through their exasperated rock and feminist, humanist and rebel values. These Nineties riot grrrl heroines have not yet said their final word: at the beginning of the 2010s, Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker picked up where they left off after a ten-year break, both in the studio and on stage. Their 11th album, Little Rope, just released in January, proves that these Portland-based friends have lost none of their fire. Singers and guitarists, each taking turns to externalise their current preoccupations through their abrasive riffs and life-saving cries. As captivating live as they are on record.
